SPOTLIGHT

The president Pedro Pablo Kuczynski announced the execution of mining projects with a total estimated investment over US$ 10 billion during the next 18 months. Among these projects are the "Quellaveco", "Michiquillay", "Mina Justa" and "Corani" mining projects

President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski announced that the good international environment and a better price of metals will favor the execution of several mining projects in Peru. Among the most important projects that the government has in its portfolio are the "Quellaveco", "Michiquillay", "Mina Justa" and "Corani" projects, which amount to a total investment of US $ 10 billion. Likewise, the president announced that other major projects are currently under evaluation for their restarting, since they were suspended due to corruption or financing problems, including the "Chinchero International Airport" and "Peruvian Southern Gas Pipeline" projects.

The Ministry of Transport and Communications announced that the declaration of interest of the project for the modernization of the Salaverry port was approved, which implies an investment of US$ 215 million

Under the plan to restart various infrastructure investment projects, the Minister of Transport and Communications Bruno Giuffra announced the approval of the declaration of interest for the modernization project of the Port of Salaverry, a private initiative that was suspended until date.

The project involves the expansion, adaptation, construction, modernization and operation of the mentioned port, which will require an approximate investment of US$ 215 million.

In the coming days, the declaration of interest will be made official through its publication in the Official Gazette “El Peruano”. There will be a period of 90 days to receive proposals from interested bidders, including the consortium Transmar, owner of the private initiative of the project.

MONDAY 31

  • According to the information provided by the government, it is expected that necessary agreements will be reached in the next 30 days to restart of the "Chavimochic III" project, as well as to enable the exit of Odebrecht from the project's concessionaire (Gestión).

  • The regional governor of Arequipa, Yamila Osorio, reported that works on the Majes - Siguas II project will start later this year as a result of the actions government to obtain the restart of the project (Gestión).

  • The consortium Obrainsa - Astaldi reported that the definitive studies of the technical file of the special project "Alto Piura" have already been presented (Gestión).

  • The government reported that progress has been achieved in the development of the "Puerto San Martín", "Red Vial 4" and "Red Vial 6" projects. On the other hand, it announced that this year is expected to award the "Commuter Train" project, which will require an investment of approximately US$ 5,000 million (Gestión).

  • Southern Peru announced plans to complete two mining infrastructure projects this year with a total investment of US$ 245 million (Gestión).

  • The Peruvian Congress approved a new law that will allow the Ministry of Housing, Construction and Sanitation to carry out budgetary transfers in favor of the companies that provide sanitation services (EPS) (Gestión).


SUNDAY 30

  • The director of the National Authority for the Reconstruction, Pablo de la Flor, reported that to date US$ 244 million have been transferred to the agriculture sector for rehabilitation works on irrigation infrastructure (El Comercio).


SATURDAY 29

  • The General Comptroller Office of the Republic will supervise the termination of the concession agreement of the project "International Airport of Chinchero" (Gestión).

  • Empresa Nacional de Telecomunicaciones of Bolivia will invest between US$ 40 and US$ 60 million in the project for the installation of optical fiber that will pass through Peruvian territory (Gestión).


FRIDAY 28

  • During his speech, president Pedro Pablo Kuczynski presented law projects to expedite the expropiation of land for the execution of infrastructure projects, for the creation of the "Urban Transportation Authority for Lima and Callao" and to promote investment in wastewater treatment projects through PPPs (Gestión).


THURSDAY 27

  • The Ministry of Transport and Communications announced that the declaration of interest of the project for the modernization of the Salaverry port was approved, which implies an investment of US$ 215 million (Gestión).

  • The Metropolitan Municipality of Lima announced the execution of several infrastructure projects in the Javier Prado Avenue, after rejecting the infrastructure project proposal of the companies Graña and Montero and Vinci (Gestión).


WEDNESDAY 26

  • With an investment of US$ 1,500 million, the project for the expansion of the Jorge Chávez Airport will begin during the second half of 2018 (Gestión).

  • Obrainsa announced that it will be the only contractor of the consortiums "Vial El Arenal", "Negromayo" and "Gestiones Viales del Norte", established with Odebrecht (Gestión).

  • The National Environmental Certification Service (SENACE) reported that during 2017 the environmental evaluation of 6 projects, with a total investment of US$ 1.7 billion, will be completed (Gestión).


TUESDAY 25

  • According to the Organizing Committee of the Panamerican Games “Lima 2019”, 36 companies and 8 consortiums are participating in the bidding process for the "Panamerican Villa" project. The project should be awarded during the first half of September (Gestión).
