SPOTLIGHT

Álvaro Quijandría, executive director of ProInversión, announced that the entity expects to obtain the declaration of interest of the private initiative "New International Container Terminal of the Port of Chimbote" by the end of 2017 or during the beginning of 2018

The director of ProInversión reported that this project, recently included by the government in the portfolio of infrastructure projects under evaluation, obtained relevant opinion from the Ministry of Transport and Communications at the beginning of August, after being presented again by one of the partners of the original proponent.

Considering that the technical studies of the project are already advanced, Quijandria commnents that the declaration of interest of the project can be obtained quickly, either at the end of 2017 or at the beginning of next year.

This port will be added to the port projects of Salaverry and Eten, allowing the transport of maritime cargo and the reduction of costs for the exportation of commodities.

The National Authority for Reconstruction announced a total investment of US$ 7.260 million in reconstruction works of houses, roads and bridges according to the national reconstruction plan

Pablo de la Flor, executive director of the National Authority for Reconstruction, announced that the government will invest approximately US $ 7.26 billion in the reconstruction of homes, roads and bridges destroyed by floods caused by the climate phenomenon known as "Niño Costero" in early 2017, in accordance with the reconstruction plan approved by the authorities.

Through this plan, more than 5,000 projects will be developed over a period of 4 years in the 13 regions of the country that suffered severe infrastructure damages during the period between January and April. Initially, the government will invest in the reconstruction of 46,000 homes, 1,500 schools, 2,638 kilometers of roads, 192 bridges and the rehabilitation of 877 kilometers of irrigation canals and drains.

MONDAY 21

  • ProInversión announced that the concession of the 500 kv Mantaro and Nueva Yanango lines and the Tintaya-Azángaro 220 kv transmission line projects will be awarded in November of this year. This month, the Michiquillay mining project will be also awarded. (Gestión).

  • The Ministry of Transport and Communications announced the incorporation into the multi-year investment plan of the project "Commuter Train", the same that could be awarded under the scheme of a co-financed public initiative (Gestión).

  • According to information provided by ProInversión, during 2017, 11 self-sustaining private initiatives for the development of projects in the port, road, airport and other sectors were received. Likewise, it was announced the call for the presentation of private initiatives for the development of wastewater treatment plants in 11 regions of the country (Gestión).

  • ProInversión reported that for 2018 it estimates an infrastructure projects portfolio of US$ 10 billion, which will include the projects "Main Works and Conduction of Drinkable Water Supply in Lima”, "Gasoducto Sur Peruano", "Peripheral Ring Road", "Longitudinal de la Sierra Section IV ", among others (Gestión).

  • On August 15th, the Regional Government of Arequipa published the declaration of interest of the project for the development of the hydroelectric component of the Majes-Siguas II special project, an initiative presented by Luz del Sur with an estimated investment of US$ 600 million (Gestión).

  • Doe Run's creditors' meeting will be held on August 23rd, which will discuss the modification to the regulations for the sale of the company’s assets as well as the continuity of the management company Dirige (Gestión).

  • The Ministry of Agriculture announced the implementation of an investment plan of around US$ 250 million in riverside defense infrastructure (Gestión).


SATURDAY 19

  • The National Authority for Reconstruction announced a total investment of US$ 7.260 million in reconstruction works of houses, roads and bridges according to the national reconstruction plan (Gestión).


FRIDAY 18

  • The Peruvian government reported about the commitment of US$ 587 million for development of works under the national reconstruction project (Gestión).


THURSDAY 17

  • The Huarura Power Group requested to the National Water Authority to approve water availability for energy purposes at the Yarucaya Hydroelectric Power Plant (Gestión).

  • The Peruvian government announced the execution of a credit facility with the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) for US$ 70 million to finance the national program for the improvement of broadband internet access services in Junín and Pasco (Gestión).


WEDNESDAY 16

  • The Peruvian government authorized a one-year extension of the Doe Run Perú liquidation process. In addition, the company's administrator requested a creditors' meeting on August 23rd, in order to discuss different topics related to the sale process of Doe Run’s assets (Gestión).

  • The company Ladrillos Lark expressed its interest in the construction of a production plant in Arequipa with an estimated investment of US$ 15 million (Gestión).

  • The fiduciary in charge of the reorganization of the Peruvian assets of China Fishery Group Limited announced its interest to carry out the auction for the sale of such assets in December of this year (Gestión).

  • The Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism, Eduardo Ferreyros, reported the government’s interest in the development of a project for a special port for cruise ships (Gestión).


TUESDAY 15

  • The National Service of Environmental Certification for Sustainable Investments - Senace reclassified the project presented by the Municipality of the Convention (Cuzco) for the development of a land terminal (Gestión).
