The Ministry of Housing and Sanitation announced that it is evaluating the possibility grant in concession several wastewater treatment plants (WWTP). It also announced that the concession of the PTAR for the Titicaca Lake would be awarded in July 2018

Minister Carlos Bruce indicated that his portfolio will seek the intervention of the private sector in the wastewater treatment plants (WWTP) under a concession scheme. In that sense, the minister informed that they are analyzing the possibility of replicating the bidding process of the WWTP for the Titicaca Lake in Puno, in other cities of the country that require the intervention of private equity.

On the other hand, the minister informed that the ministry is also finalizing the necessary regulations to approve a procedure for the participation of private managers in companies providing sanitation services in Peru that are under the temporary support regime headed by the technical agency of sanitation, which will help to ensure the correct management of the resources of these companies.

The National Authority for Reconstruction announced that in October will be awarded several infrastructure projects for more than US$ 100 million

According to the latest report from the National Authority for Reconstruction, the entity plans to award projects for more than US$ 100 million during the rest of October. Thus, the entity reported that the largest project to be awarded will be the one that will improve and expand the flood protection service in the cities of Piura and Castile, with an estimated investment of US$ 17 million.

To date, the authority has awarded projects for a total value of US$ 159 million, including river dewatering works, flood prevention and rehabilitation of roads and bridges. The National Reconstruction Plan estimates a total investment of over US$ 7.6 billion until 2019.

  • In order to analyze the possibilities of participation and business collaboration in Peru, five companies from Asturias (Spain) explored last week the metal and construction market in Peru, including the projects "Line 2 of the Metro of Lima and Callao", "Panamerican Games Lima 2019" and several road projects (Gestión).

  • Red de Energía del Peru carries out the expansion number 18 of the transmission line that is in charge, the same that is expected to conclude in February 2019 (Gestión).

  • ProInversión reported that in the second half of 2018, the natural gas massification project over the center and south of Peru will be awarded, with an estimated investment of US$ 350 million (Gestión).

  • According to unofficial information, to date there are 8 prequalified bidders entitled to participate in the concession process of the 500kV links projects promoted by ProInversión. The award will be made on October 30 (Gestión).

  • Chile's energy minister announced that the bidding process for the transmission line between Arica and Tacna could start in March 2018, as part of the the first phase of the interconnection project between the two countries (Gestión).

  • Southern Peru expects to obtain the construction license for the "Tía María" mining project in early 2018 (Gestión).


FRIDAY 20

  • After participating in roadshows organized in Mexico, China, Korea and Japan, ProInversión reported that it has identified 30 potential global investors interested in PPP projects in Peru (Gestión).


THURSDAY 19

  • The Chavimochic special project requested the National Water Authority (ANA) the right to use underground water in the district of La Esperanza (La Libertad) in order to expand irrigation coverage in green areas and gardens (Gestion).

  • The Ministry of Transport and Communications announced that the engineering studies of the first stage of Line 2 of the Metro of Lima and Callao are ready (Gestión).


WEDNESDAY 18

  • Enel Perú acquired the direct ownership of 82.6% of Enel Generación Peru (Gestión).

  • The National Authority for Reconstruction announced that in October will be awarded several infrastructure projects for more than US$ 100 million (Gestión).


TUESDAY 17

  • ProInversión reported that the prequalification period for the bidding process of the Michiquillay mining project was extended until November 2. This entity estimates that more than 20 companies will participate in the bidding process (Gestión).

  • OHL sold one of its concession subsidiaries to the Australian IFM fund, which includes road infrastructure projects in Chile, Peru and Colombia (Gestión).
