Doe Run will present a proposal for the reactivation of activities of the Metallurgical Complex of La Oroya, which will be resolved within a period of 4 months, in order to attract more investors for the complex's auction in 2018

The company Doe Run will deliver in the coming days the plan to restart operations in the metallurgical complex of La Oroya, which includes a budget of US$ 108 million and which will be resolved within a period of four months.

Currently, the company has 120,000 tons of zinc ferrite, of which it will sell 60,000 tons this month. With the funds obtained from the sale, the company will develop the future installation of a gas recirculation system for the complex's chimneys, a project that would take 6 months to develop.

The main objective of the plan is to improve the conditions of the metallurgical complex in order to attract more investors participating in the complex's auction process, which will take place in 2018.

Inland Energy, a company linked to Luz del Sur, is preparing the construction of two hydroelectric plants for US$ 695 million, which will be part of the electrical component of the "Majes - Siguas II" project

The company Inland Energy received the classification of the Senace needed to proceed with the construction of two hydroelectric power stations in the Arequipa region, in the Lluta district, which will be part of the electrical component of the Majes-Siguas II irrigation project. The estimated investment of both plants has been determined at US$ 695.1 million.

Inland Energy plans the construction of the Majes I hydroelectric plant of 293,35 MW and Majes II of 156.02 MW, as well as a 500KV transmission line of 44.07 kilometers. The construction of the first power plant is planned within a period of 52 months, while the second power plant would be built within a period of 48 months. The construction of the second plant will be subject to the expiration or waiver of concessions with previous concessionaires.

MONDAY 11

  • Anglo American informed that it expects to have ready the feasibility study for the "Quellaveco" copper project in mid-2018. The company is evaluating the sale of a percentage of its participation in the project (Gestión).

  • Inland Energy, a company linked to Luz del Sur, is preparing the construction of two hydroelectric plants for US$ 695 million, which will be part of the electrical component of the "Majes - Siguas II" project (Gestión).

  • The National Port Authority informed that between December 15th and 20th the publication of the bidding rules for the concession of the project for the modernization of the port of Salaverry (La Libertad) will be carried out. It is expected that ProInversión will award the project between March and April of 2018 (Gestión).

  • ProInversión, the National Port Authority and the Ministry of Transport and Communications are evaluating different private port initiatives for the year 2018, as well as the port state initiative in Lambayeque (Gestión).

  • The National Port Authority is evaluating the private initiative of the Minsur company for the construction of a port terminal in San Juan de Marcona, near to its "Mina Justa" mining project. Likewise, the project proposed by Fosfatos del Pacífico for the construction of a port terminal in Piura is evaluated, with an investment of US$ 130 million (Gestión).

  • Bruno Giuffra, Minister of Transport and Communications, reported that currently it helds 16 negotiation processes with various operators, suppliers and dealers (Gestión).

  • The Ministry of Transport and Communications reported that it is already coordinating with ProInversión the bidding of the Third Group of Airports of Peru. It also informed that they are preparing a National Infrastructure Plan and that it would be ready in 6 months (Gestión).


FRIDAY 08

  • The Regional Government of Arequipa awarded Luz del Sur the development of the hydroelectric component of the "Majes - Siguas II" project (Gestión).


THURSDAY 07

  • Bow Power, part of the Cobra group, reported that it plans to start commercial operation of the "Manta" hydroelectric plant in mid-2019. It also reported that they do not rule out the possibility of making new acquisitions in the Peruvian electricity market (Gestión).

  • The Organizing Committee of the 2019 Panamerican Games Lima 2019 performed the call to the bidding process for the development of the "Villa Deportiva del Callao" and "Villa El Salvador Sports Center" projects (Gestión).

  • The Ministry of Agriculture informed that an investment of US$ 268 million will be required for the implementation of different reconstruction projects in the sector, as a consequence of the "Niño Costero" natural phenomenon (Gestión).

  • The Peruvian Renewable Energy Society reported that there is a portfolio of projects in this sector of approximately U$$ 2,000 million in Peru (Gestión).


WEDNESDAY 06

  • OHL informed that it is evaluating to develop tourism projects and luxury hotels in Peru for the year 2018. It also informed that during 2018 the construction of the "Vía de Evitamiento de Chimbote" project will begin and it will assume the projects "Improvement of the Moquegua - Omate – Arequipa highway" and "Reconstruction of the Piura river channel" (Gestión).

  • Doe Run will present a proposal for the reactivation of activities of the Metallurgical Complex of La Oroya, which will be resolved within a period of 4 months, in order to attract more investors for the complex's auction in 2018 (Gestión).

  • CAF approved a loan of US$ 98 million in favor of Peru for the development of the second stage of the "Majes - Siguas II" project in Arequipa (Gestión).


TUESDAY 05

  • The Ministry of Housing, Construction and Sanitation reported that the first desalination plant in Peru, which will be located in the south of Lima, will be built over a period of 24 months and will have an investment of US$ 95 million (Gestión).

  • The Ministry of Transport and Communications reported that it will allocate more than US$ 62 million during the period 2018 -2021 for the realization of technical studies in order to identify projects that help improve the rail network in Peru (Gestión).
