SPOTLIGHT

The Ministry of Energy and Mines reported that it will commission ProInversión the tender processes for the concession of six electricity transmission projects, including a high-voltage line that will connect the northern zone of Peru with southern Ecuador

According to the information provided by the Ministry of Energy and Mines, the new projects would require an estumated investment of more than US$ 500 million, including the transmission line Piura - Frontera, located in the north of the Piura region, and the interconnection transmission line with Ecuador.

Regarding this last project, ProInversión’s project manager, Aníbal del Águila, informed that the project is expected to be carried out in two tranches, the first of which would be promoted during the second quarter of 2018 and would require an investment of US$ 140 million. The second tranch, that would reach the border with Ecuador, is yet to be granted for promotion to ProInversión and could require an estimated investment of US$ 300 million.

On the other hand, during the second quarter of 2018 it is expected the call for the bidding of other transmission projects, repowering of the current lines and the construction of new substations, which will require an estimated investment of US$ 100 million.

MONDAY 05

  • Petramás S.A.C. reported obtaining the definitive concession to generate renewable energy resources, granted by the Regional Government of Lima, which will allow the development of a thermal biomass plant in San Antonio de Huarochirí (Gestión).

  • Minsur will invest US$ 480 million in the B2 and Mina Justa mining initiatives during 2018 (Gestión).


FRIDAY 02

  • Terminal Portuario Paracas (TPP) reported that the financial closing of the project for the modernization of the General San Martín Port Terminal (Pisco), for an approximate amount of US$ 260 million was completed (Gestión).

  • The Organizing Committee of the Panamerican Games Lima 2019 reported that 58 companies and consortiums, Peruvian and foreign, are interested in the adjudication of sport infrastructure projects in Callao and in the sports center of Villa El Salvador (Gestión).


THURSDAY 01

  • Buenaventura reported that it is evaluating the possibility of establishing synergies in the development of copper mining projects in Cajamarca (Diario Gestión).

  • Lima Airport Partners announced that it is evaluating different alternatives to obtain the necessary financing for the Jorge Chávez Airport expansion project, for an estimated amount of US$ 1 billion (Gestión)


TUESDAY 27

  • Bear Creek Mining reported that it is waiting for the Ministry of Energy and Mines to approve construction permits for the Corani silver project in Puno (Gestión).

  • Vinci reported the completion of the "Línea Amarilla" project, which required an investment of more than US$ 770 million. It also reported that it is coordinating with the Municipality of Lima the process for the delivery of the project’s  works (Gestión).
