SPOTLIGHT

The Ministry of Energy and Mines reported that it will commission ProInversión the tender processes for the concession of six electricity transmission projects, including a high-voltage line that will connect the northern zone of Peru with southern Ecuador

The Peruvian Congress approved the law project N ° 2408/2017 that will replace the Emergency Decree N ° 003-2017, with the purpose of ensuring the immediate payment of civil compensation in favor of the Peruvian State in cases of corruption and related crimes, as well as to guarantee the continuity of the infrastructure projects in execution and the chain of payments in such projects.

Among the new provisions contemplated in the approved law project is the modification of the figure of effective collaboration contemplated in the Penal Code at the request of the Public Ministry, as well as the approval of provisions regarding the payment of workers and suppliers of the companies involved. On the other hand, provisions have been approved that seek to guarantee the payment of civil compensation in favor of the State, such as the preventive registry entry on assets and the creation of a guarantee trust.

MONDAY 12

  • To date, the development of nine mining projects in different regions of the country is expected, with an estimated total investment of US$ 12 billion. Among the evaluated projects is the "Quellaveco" project of Anglo American, which will decide in July of this year the development of such project that will demand US$ 5,500 million (Gestión).

  • The Ministry of Housing, Construction and Sanitation reported that it is evaluating the termination of the concession contract for water and sanitation services in Tumbes, executed with the consortium integrated by the companies Inassa and Concyssa (Gestión).

  • Sacyr obtained the award of the infrastructure works that will be developed in Callao in the framework of the projects for the Panamerican Games Lima 2019 (Gestión).

FRIDAY 09

  • The Peruvian Government reported that part of the "Chinchero International Airport" project will be carried out through a public works scheme, including the removal of lands and the construction of the landtrack (Gestión).

  • The Peruvian Congress approved the law project that will replace the Emergency Decree N ° 003-2017, with the purpose of guaranteeing the continuity of infrastructure works in the country (Gestión).


THURSDAY 08

  • The Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) informed that the publication of a regulation that will replace the Emergency Decree No. 003-2017 will not interrupt the chain of payments and the sale process of the "Chaglla" hydroelectric project, given the banks' fear of the impossibility of the repayment of the debt held by the concessionaire (Gestión.

  • The Ministry of Energy and Mines reported that the award of the Cobriza mining unit of Doe Run Peru is expected before April 2, 2018 (Gestión).

  • ICCGSA reported that its restructuring plan is still being prepared, which involves the sale of various company assets. Among them, the sale of Corporación Agraria Olmos is being structured by financial advisors (Gestión).
  • Abengoa and Algonquin Power & Utilities Corporation have submitted a joint offer for the development of a transmission line in Peru. To date, they maintain a private negotiation for the acquisition of the project (Gestión).

WEDNESDAY 07

  • Banks that financed part of the "Chaglla" hydroelectric project through Odebrecht Energía del Perú, demand the repayment of the existing debt of US$ 320 million in order to authorize the sale of the project (Gestión).


TUESDAY 06

  • The President of the Republic, Pedro Pablo Kuczynski, informed that the negotiations held with the concessionaire of the project "Majes Siguas II" are close to ending successfully. Project will demand more than US$ 500 million of investment (Gestión).
