SPOTLIGHT

ProInversión reported that it plans to award 6 new broadband internet installation projects, for a total estimated investment of US$ 665.4 million, in the regions of Áncash, Arequipa, Huánuco, La Libertad, Pasco and San Martín

The Ministry of Transport and Communications, through the Telecommunications Investment Fund (FITEL), announced that it plans to award in 2018, through ProInversión, 6 new regional investment projects for the installation of broadband internet, which they will demand an estimated total investment of US$ 665.4 million, which includes a 10-year operation subsidy by the FITEL.

The projects will be developed in the regions of Ancash, Arequipa, Huánuco, La Libertad, Pasco and San Martín and will benefit more than 1.2 million Peruvian citizens. The Ministry gave its favorable opinion to the evaluation report presented by ProInversión so that the projects will be incorporated ProInversion's portfolio of projects. It is expected that the awarding of the projects will be carried out during the last quarter of 2018

MONDAY 02

  • Marco Vagas, general manager of the special irrigation project "Alto Piura", informed that the last tranche of US$ 13 million of the financing needed to complete water transfer works will be requested to the Peruvian government (Gestión).

  • Hydro Global will invest US$ 150 million in the San Gabán III hydroelectric project works during 2018. The total estimated investment of the project, amounting to US $ 560 million, is planned to be completed until the year 2021, when the plant is expected to begin commercial operation (Gestión).

  • Proposal of the consortium Angostura Siguas (formed by Cobra and Cosapi) for the optimization of the irrigation system of the Majes Siguas II project will be discussed on April 24th at the Regional Government of Arequipa. Proposal would increase investment required by US$ 107 million, over the US$ 550 million already estimated (Gestión).


WEDNESDAY 28

  • Acciona reported that it is evaluating the development of different private initiatives in infrastructure projects in Peru, as part of its regional expansion plan (Gestión).

  • The Ministry of Transportation and Communication reported that it is evaluating the reversion of the potable water and sanitation concession in Tumbes in favor of the Peruvian government. To date, the ministry is evaluating the resolution of the corresponding concession agreement signed with Aguas de Tumbes (Gestión).


TUESDAY 27

  • The Ministry of Transport and Communications reported that the number of prioritized road projects has been reduced to 13 as part of the works to be carried out within the framework of the Panamerican Games Lima 2019. Investment in 8 of these projects will reach approximately US$ 188 million (Gestión).

  • ProInversión reported that it plans to award 6 new broadband internet installation projects, for a total estimated investment of US$ 665.4 million, in the regions of Áncash, Arequipa, Huánuco, La Libertad, Pasco and San Martín (Gestión).

  • The Peruvian government will allocate US$ 1 819 million in investment for the development of 367 road infrastructure projects in 13 regions of the country, within the framework of the National Reconstruction Plan. The works would be completed by the year 2020 (Gestión).
