Jiangxi Copper associates with Zhongrong for the development of the "Pampa del Pongo" mining project, with an estimated investment of US$ 2,600 million
On July 20 companies Zhongrong Xinda Group (current operator of the project) and the Chinese company Jiangxi Copper Group signed a global cooperation agreement to form a joint venture that will be responsible for the development of the mining project in Arequipa.
Following the announcement, both companies are expected to build mining systems, installation equipment for water desalination, power transmission systems and support facilities. The project, to date, has the necessary permits to start construction works, so both companies are focused on obtaining the required financing for the development of the project.
Likewise, the existence of a railway project that connects mining projects in the south of the country with the port of San Juan de Marcona would greatly benefit the development and operation of the mining project.
