SPOTLIGHT

The Ministry of Transport and Communications reported that the project "Commuter Train Barranca - Ica" could be tendered during 2019 under the co-financed private initiative scheme

During the celebrations for national holidays, President Martín Vizcarra announced the opening of a new window for the presentation of co-financed initiatives -among others- of railways. In this scenario, it was reported that the facility for the presentation of projects will reduce the bidding time of the projects, including the project "Commuter Train Barranca - Ica", which could be tendered in only 1 year (during 2019).

As reported by the president, this initiative would require an estimated investment of US$ 5,790 million. Also, it was announced that the Ministry of Transport and Communications had already presented different railway projects to companies in the construction sector. Among the projects on display are the aforementioned commuter train, the Chimbote - Trujillo railway project and the Trujillo - Chiclayo railway project. These last two projects would require an estimated investment of US$ 1 536 and US$ 2 283 million, approximately.

However, the last mentioned have not yet entered the project portfolio managed by ProInversión.

  • The Canadian mining company Tahoe Resources reported that it will invest approximately US$ 180 million in the expansion project of the Shahuindo mine in Cajamarca (Gestión).


FRIDAY 03

  • Engie plans to develop a wind farm in Ica with an estimated investment of US$ 350 million (Gestión).

  • The government reported that it is evaluating the possibility of restart the tender process of the "Chavimochic III" project in order for it to be concluded as a public work project (Gestión).


THURSDAY 02

  • New meeting of creditors of Doe Run Peru, which will be held on August 21 and 24, will decide, among other issues, on the future of assets for sale since 2017 (Gestión).


TUESDAY 31

  • Shougang Hierro Peru culminated with the expansion works of the Marcona mining project with a n investment of US$ 1,100 million (Gestión).

  • Lima Airport Partners (LAP) reported that it expects to finalize, during the last quarter of 2018, the financing required for the Jorge Chávez Airport expansion project. The financial advisors of the company aim to raise US$ 1,000 million in project debt (Gestión).

  • The Ministry of Transport and Communications reported that the project "Commuter Train Barranca - Ica" could be tendered during 2019 under the co-financed private initiative scheme (Gestión).
