The Ministry of Transport and Communications reported that the project "Commuter Train Barranca - Ica" could be tendered during 2019 under the co-financed private initiative scheme
During the celebrations for national holidays, President Martín Vizcarra announced the opening of a new window for the presentation of co-financed initiatives -among others- of railways. In this scenario, it was reported that the facility for the presentation of projects will reduce the bidding time of the projects, including the project "Commuter Train Barranca - Ica", which could be tendered in only 1 year (during 2019).
As reported by the president, this initiative would require an estimated investment of US$ 5,790 million. Also, it was announced that the Ministry of Transport and Communications had already presented different railway projects to companies in the construction sector. Among the projects on display are the aforementioned commuter train, the Chimbote - Trujillo railway project and the Trujillo - Chiclayo railway project. These last two projects would require an estimated investment of US$ 1 536 and US$ 2 283 million, approximately.
However, the last mentioned have not yet entered the project portfolio managed by ProInversión.
