SPOTLIGHT

After several months, in July, the addendum 13 of the Majes-Siguas II irrigation Project will be executed, with the purpose of make a technological change in the irrigation of the lands, which will have an investment of US$ 104 millons.

Also, through this, the sale system of the land will be modified, shifting the task from Proinversion to the Regional Government of Arequipa (Diario Gestion).

MONDAY 24

  • The Italian group Enel Americas filed a non-binding offer for 83.74% of the distributor Luz del Sur (Diario Gestion).

  • With the purpose of increasing and optimizing the production of hydrocarbons in the north coast, the oil company Monterrico presented a modification for the relocation of nine development wells in Piura (Talara) (Diario Gestion).

  • As a consequence of the restructuring project of the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation, it has been proposed that five irrigation projects can be transferred to the regional governments (Diario Gestion).

  • The mayor of Lima, Jorge Muñoz, said there are "advances" regarding the negotiations on the issue of tolls with the companies Linea Amarilla and Rutas de Lima. Likewise, he indicated that there is no a possibility of concluding the toll contracts with Rutas de Lima and Lamsac, because the legal term foreseen to do it was expired. (Diario Gestión).


FRIDAY 21

  • Geopark withdrew its environmental impact study to explore a lot in the Peruvian Amazon in partnership with Petroperu, because it aims to incorporate more information in its environmental impact study, in order to obtain approval to operate lot 64 (Diario Gestion).

  • Association for the Promotion of Infrastructure indicated that the Project Manager Office (PMO) is not enough to solve the problems that delay the execution of works (Diario Gestion).


WEDNESDAY 19

  • Cementos Inka will comerce civil works for a new plant in Pisco (Ica), an installation that is expected to cost approximately US$ 20 millions. (Diario Gestion).

  • The Shougang Hierro Peru mining company estimates a production of 17 millions tons of iron-one in Marcona (Ica) this year, and expects to expand production to 20 millions tons next year (Diario Gestion).

  • The Ministry of Energy and Mines, informed that they have planned to invest US$ 2,200 millions in the mining sector for this year. One of the projects planned for this year is the expansion of Santa Maria, Corani and Tia Maria, which must start production operations between 2020 and 2022 (Diario Gestion).


TUESDAY 18

  • The Minister of Economy and Finance, Carlos Oliva, said that this year work will begin on the construction of runway 2 of the Jorge Chavez International Airport (Diario Gestion). 

  • Bolivia would be interested in connecting to the future southern gas pipeline to export its gas to other countries, and even to sell it in Peru (Diario Gestion). 

  • The Government of Bolivia signed three memorandums of understanding with representatives of the companies Kallpa Generacion and Engie Energia Peru for the purchase of natural gas, thus opening new markets for Bolivian gas (Diario Gestion).
