Bear Creek expects the construction of the Corani mining project, located in Puno, to start in 2018 and to be fully operational in 2021. The project will require an investment of US$ 500 million

The Vice President of Corporate Development of the mining company, Andrés Franco, declared that the construction of the Corani silver mine is expected to begin during 2018, aiming to be operational by 2021 at the latest.

The Corani project, located over 4,500 meters above sea level and close to the limit with Cusco, will require an investment that will range between US$ 500 and US$ 700 million. The construction of the infrastructure required for the open pit will involve a workforce of 1,500 and 2,000. This will be the largest mining investment to be made in the Puno region.

The "Amazon Waterway" project, with an estimated investment of US$ 95 million, received proposals from three bidders: Consorcio Hidrovías II, Jan De Nul N.V and China Communications Construction Co.

On June 28th, ProInversión held the ceremony for the presentation of envelopes 2 and 3 (technical proposal and economic proposal, respectively) of the bidding process of the project "Amazon Waterway". According to the project’s calendar published by ProInversión, this week the project should be awarded.

The three bidders that are participating in the tender are: Consorcio Hidrovías II (consisting of the companies Sinohydro Corporation LTD and Construcción y Administración S.A.), Jan De Nul N.V and China Communications Construction Co.

The project will require an investment of US$ 95 million and aims to improve the navigability of the Huallaga, Marañón, Ucayali and Amazonas rivers, develop freight and passenger transportation and boost regional, national and international trade. The term of the concession will be of 20–year–period.  

MONDAY 07

  • The consortium Obrainsa - Astaldi will present on July 15th the definitive studies of the technical file of the special project of irrigation “Alto Piura”. So far, the consortium has drilled 328 meters of the project’s tunnel (Gestión).

  • The third auction of assets of the company Doe Run Peru will be held this week. If this new auction is declared deserted, the sale process could be extended for one more year (Gestión).

  • The mining company Marcobre S.A.C. presented a new modification to the environmental impact study for the expansion of the Mina Justa mining project, with an estimated investment of US$ 63.1 million (Gestión).

  • The French company Vinci Highways declared that it remains interested in participating in the new tender for the project "International Airport of Chinchero" as well as in the tender for the project "Line 3 of the Metro of Lima and Callao" (Gestión).

  • The Public Transport Infrastructure Regulatory Agency (OSITRAN) will issue next week a new technical opinion on the draft of the seventh addendum to the concession agreement of the Jorge Chávez International Airport, which includes the extension of the third passenger terminal and the construction of the second land track (Gestión).

  • The Ministry of Energy and Mines reported that up to April, investments in the mining sector have reached US$ 311,757.178 million (Gestión).


FRIDAY 30

  • Bear Creek declared that it expects the construction of the Corani mining project, located in Puno, to begin in 2018 and to be fully operational by 2021. The project will require an investment of US$ 500 million (Semana Económica).


THURSDAY 29

  • The French company Vinci reported that the construction works of the "Línea Amarilla" has an 85% of advancement and that the project is expected to be completed by the end of the year. Likewise, the company has declared its interest in participating in more roads and airports projects (Gestión).

  • The "Amazon Waterway" project, with an estimated investment of US$ 95 million, received proposals from three bidders: Consorcio Hidrovías II, Jan De Nul N.V and China Comunications Construction Co. (Semana Económica).
  • The Reconstruction Authority approved execution of US$ 397 million in prevention works until the end of 2017 (Semana Económica).

WEDNESDAY 28

  • Anglo American reported advances in engineering and access works at the Quellaveco mining project, whith an investment of US$ 4.8 billion (Gestión).

  • The company Hidroandina S.A.C. received the electric concession for distribution activities in the departments of Áncash and La Libertad (Gestión).

  • The company Ocoña Hydro reported progress for the development of its hydroelectric power plant project Arequipa (Gestión).


TUESDAY 27

  • The Comptroller of the Republic requested information related to the conditions for the termination of the concession contract of the project "International Airport of Chinchero". It is estimated that the payment in favor of the concessionaire Kuntur Wasi would be of up to US$ 80 million (Gestión).

  • The Government approved the Regulations of Organization and Functions of ProInversión (Gestión).

  • Peroperú announced that it will implement a new debt issuance program in 2019 (Gestión).
